Tour Plan
Day 01
Marrakech to Ouarzazate, then Mhamid
- Your adventure begins with a transfer from Marrakech to Mhamid, traveling through the majestic High Atlas Mountains, heading towards the Tizi-N-Tichka pass at 2260 meters. Along the way, stop for lunch in Ouarzazate, then continue towards Agdez, crossing the Tizi-N-Tinifift pass at 1710 meters. Here, your journey into the Draa Valley begins, home to Morocco’s longest river. Surrounded by the spectacular views of Djebel Saghro to the north, Djebel Bani to the east, and the vast Draa Hamada to the south, you reach your desert bivouac near Mhamid, the last oasis village in the Draa Valley. Spend the night under the stars or in a traditional tent, with a musical evening around the fire.
Day 02
M'hamid to Sidi Naji Desert
- The second day begins with a camel ride through the old kasbah in the palm grove. Stop for lunch under the shade of tamaris trees, followed by a relaxing siesta. In the late afternoon, around 4:00 PM, continue your trek to Sidi Naji, where an ancient marabout’s tomb lies, now a pilgrimage site for nomads. In the evening, set up camp around the fire, enjoying fresh sand-baked bread and traditional entertainment amidst the quiet desert.
Day 03
Sidi Naji - Erg Zahar
- On Day 3, we begin by crossing the vast Bousnina Reg, taking a moment to stop at a charming spot for lunch, as the landscape transforms every couple of hours. In the evening, we make our way to the towering dunes of Erg Zahar, rising over 200 meters. From these majestic dunes, we are treated to panoramic views of the endless sea of sand, the perfect place to watch the sunset and take in the stunning desert vistas. As night falls, we set up camp, enjoy the lively atmosphere of nomadic entertainment, and indulge in freshly baked sand bread.
Day 4
Erg Zahar to Erg Esmar
- The following day, we cross the picturesque Draa Valley and stop for a refreshing lunch by a cool well. After a peaceful siesta, we continue our journey toward the Erg Smar dunes, where we’ll set up camp for the night in this serene desert landscape.
Day 5
Erg Esmar to Erg Chegaga
- The journey takes us across the vast Erg Sedra reg, leading us to the stunning dunes of Chegaga by evening. Here, we are treated to the breathtaking sight of the sunset as it casts its golden hues over the majestic dunes. From this vantage point, we are surrounded by the endless sea of sand, a truly unforgettable experience.
Day 6
Erg Chegaga – Oued Laatach
- In the morning, we immerse ourselves in the towering dunes, relishing the panoramic views of the vast desert landscape. We may even venture to the towering Abidlia dune for an incredible perspective. After a relaxing lunch, we begin our journey back toward Mhamid, heading toward Oued Laatach, where we will set up camp for the night.
Day 7
Oued Laatach to M'Hamid
- We journey through the vast Draa Hamada, ascending the valley as we make our way back to Mhamid by evening. The day ends with a peaceful night in a desert bivouac, under the stars.
Day 8
Mhamid to Marrakech
- After a memorable desert adventure, we transfer back to Marrakech by minibus or 4x4, bringing our incredible journey to a close.
