Day 01
Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Agdz – Zagora – M’Hamid
- Meet at 8:00 AM for a 4x4 departure to M’Hamid, passing through Tizi-N-Tichka Pass (2,205m).
- First stop: Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, followed by a lunch break in Ouarzazate.
- Continue to Agdz for a panoramic view of the Draa Valley, then head towards Zagora
- Along the way, stop at Tamgroute to explore the underground kasbah and pottery workshops.
- Finally, arrive at M’Hamid for an overnight stay at the desert bivouac.
- Set up camp, enjoy dinner, and spend the night under the stars.
Day 02
M’Hamid - Sidi Naji
- Morning: The journey starts from M’Hamid after breakfast, where we meet Camels, and the camel drivers, will be ready, along with the cook. We will load our tents, food, and water supplies for the 8-day trip
- Afternoon: Visit the old kasbah of M’Hamid, where tribes once sought refuge during attacks. Afterward, we rest and have lunch under the shade of tamarisk trees.
- Late afternoon: After the break, we resume our journey towards Sidi Naji. We will arrive by the end of the day.
- Evening: Upon arrival at the shrine of Sidi Naji, a sacred place for the nomads, we will rest for the night. Dinner will be prepared around the campfire, and there will be a cultural exchange with the camel drivers and cook. The sunset over the desert is a moment not to be missed. We’ll either sleep in tents or under the stars.
Day 03
Sidi Naji – Erg Zahar
- After breakfast, the caravan sets off from Sidi Naji towards Erg Zahar, walking for about 4 hours through the desert. Along the way, we’ll learn to distinguish the different desert terrains: the sand dunes (ergs), rocky plains (regs), and barren plateaus (hamadas). At midday, we’ll stop in a shaded area for a lunch break.
- In the late afternoon, we arrive at the grand sand dunes of Erg Zahar. From the top, we enjoy breathtaking 360° panoramic views of the endless sea of sand. After sunset, we set up camp, with the cook preparing dinner. The evening will be filled with stories and legends from the nomads. At night, you’ll decide whether to sleep under the stars or in a tent.
Day 4
Erg Zahar to Erg Esmar
- After breakfast, we begin our journey towards Erg Esmar, walking for five hours through the stunning desert landscapes. At midday, we cross the Draa Valley and stop at a well to take a break. Then, we rest and enjoy lunch in the shade before continuing our walk towards our destination.
- In the evening, we arrive at Erg Esmar, unload the camels, and set up the tents. We enjoy the beautiful sunset, followed by a delicious dinner around the campfire, and share stories under the star-filled sky.
- It was another day of peace and beauty in the heart of the desert, where nature and tranquility meet in their most magnificent form.
Day 5
Erg Esmar to Erg Chegaga
- Today’s destination is Erg Chegaga, a 6-hour walk through the desert. After breakfast, with the camels loaded and ready, we begin our journey through the golden sand, starting with the Sidra dunes. The vastness of the sand ocean is both unchanging and ever-changing, offering inspiration to poets along the way.
- We stop for lunch, enjoy a siesta, and then continue towards the towering dunes of Chegaga. Upon arrival, a surprise awaits: a comfortable desert camp with electricity from solar panels, water from deep wells, showers, and large, comfortable tents.
- For the adventurous, a 20-minute climb up the tallest dune, Abidlia, offers a panoramic view of the endless sea of sand. Afterward, enjoy a stunning sunset, followed by a delicious dinner prepared by our chef.
- The night offers a choice: sleep in the tent or under the stars by the fire.
Day 6
Erg Chegaga – Oued Laatach
- After breakfast, we begin our journey towards Oued Laatach, a walk of about 6 hours. For those who didn’t climb the Abidlia Dune the previous night, now is the perfect time to do so and enjoy a panoramic view of the desert.
- The trek includes rest stops, lunch, and continued walking through the peaceful desert. In the evening, we reach Oued Laatach, where we set up camp and enjoy a relaxing, quiet atmosphere. After a beautiful sunset, we gather around the fire to share stories and sleep under the clear, starry sky.
Day 7
Oued Laatach to Erg Ait Oun
- After breakfast, the journey begins towards Erg Ait Ounir, which takes about 5 hours. We pass by the dry lake of Petit Iriqui and arrive at the Bougarne dunes, where we stop for lunch and a short rest. After a brief nap, we continue our trek through the desert until we reach Erg Ait Ounir, where a tamarisk forest and sand dunes await us.
- In the evening, we quickly set up camp and find a perfect spot to watch the sunset. Afterward, we enjoy a delicious dinner, accompanied by stories and jokes. Whether inside the tent or under the starry sky, the night is peaceful and restful.
Day 8
Erg Ait Ounir to Douib Dunes
After breakfast, we begin our journey, which will take about 6 hours, deep in the Moroccan desert. We start by crossing the vast Hamada of the Drâa, heading towards the Douib Dunes. Around midday, we stop for lunch and then enjoy a short nap under the shade of palm trees. After the break, we continue walking until we reach our destination: the Douib Dunes. As usual, we set up our tents, admire the beautiful sunset, and then enjoy a delicious dinner. It’s our last night in the desert—such a peaceful and serene moment to cherish.
Day 9
Douib Dunes - M’Hamid
After breakfast, we set off towards M’Hamid, an oasis at the gate of the desert, about 3 hours of walking. After crossing the Draa Valley, we’ll stop under a tamarisk grove for lunch and a short nap. After that, we continue our journey and reach The camp is the starting point.
Day 10
Mhamid to Marrakech
Last breakfast in the desert. We leave the village to head to Ouarzazate, then Marrakech in the evening
